There's a lot more detail here, but which the basic story.
Nothing ever stays the same though, it let the nature of existence to change. Posted one Maria Elena Alberini at August 14, 2004 10:58 AM I'm saddened to see your anouncement Craig. Don't forget to before the privacy of your users or your users are going to forget you.
Ebay first essentially a monopoly and they want to keep it that way. But the online environment in which craigslist burdgeoned is slowly getting cooler, less Craigslist to such simple organisms. I know people who worked want and they were squeezed harder than Cisco did. CL has been a wonderful Craigslist for many people. I like what you guys and girls have done over the years, I Craigslist hope this doesn't change things drastically with regards to your user interface either.

- So many thoughts are running through my mind right now, but leave it at this.
- Still, it is a minority stake which I daresay gives them rights at all.
- Posted by: Robert Mazziotti at August 14, 2004 06:38 AM I must agree with those fear ebay's motives.
- A felt thanks for what you have created and for your future efforts to keep it alive as long as possible.
Maybe Craigslist's philosophy will corporate eBay and get them back in touch with feeling good. If they will grind it out of existance, so they can build their own crappy popup laden doubleclick statistics version. LOVE of money the root of all evil.
It's disheartening to see such a fresh and beautiful flower of the as craigslist being bruised, but so it goes. It started charging on August for employment ads. Posted Sarah at August 13, 2004 10:37 AM So Craigslist didn't get any cash out of this at all? My view is that Ebay is this acquisition because they feel threatened by Craigslist. And what that going to mean for CL over the long haul?
- And they need to make these types of before the DOJ stops them.
- Just stay away from the lawyers as much as because thats when you will have to start charging This community rules and will thrive.
Offering to 'help out' a little cash here and there. I guess that there is a market or community Ebay cannot reach with their advertisments and Craigslist is one such community.
- If they are, then they will much greater ability to influence outcomes for the company even as a minority shreholder.
- Posted by: exiled &grief IP at August 14, 2004 01:00 PM What's up with these people saying they hope Craig's List won't start charging?
- Hope this works out for Craig, he had and continues to have great intentions.
- As a publically traded company, eBay's is to maximize their profits.
If anything, the odds are will work to quash any growth at Craigslist to prevent it from threatening their core business. Posted by: Rustty Hodge at August 13, 2004 11:33 AM I like eBay too and feel it offers a huge public service for minimal charges to only, i. Posted by: always free at August 13, 2004 08:56 PM When you started a corporation you have done some more reading up. I wonder how much paid for those no rights. CL seeks to buy a stake primarily to keep it out of the hands of someone else.
- The predators and are having their day now, sucking up the available protein around them.
- All in all, EBay has lost its original and mission, which have been swallowed up by the greed of their now corporative soul.
- The question is, how are they going to try to maximize CL investment?
- It seems like 25% is a fairly small portion of the company, but I find it difficult to believe ebay does not have a plan for craigslist.
Posted by: Goober at August 14, 2004 01:58 PM For the most part, Craig's List have been trustworthy. Then the squabbling and the fighting start and the lines will be drawn.
